On the contrary to how everyone else feels, I actually have a lot more fun with Sonic than with Spark. It's better than Frontiers, but its flaws hold it back from surpassing the higher end of Sonic. Just to elaborate, one of the funnest parts about Sonic is how many tricks you can do to skip portions of level design, ultimately shaving time off your final score, it takes thought, timing, skill, and courage to pull off. A great example of that is Unleashed, just in the very first level, the tricks you pull off take some pretty big cajones and they're only a couple seconds faster than just doing the portion you skipped normally. Spark 3 allows you to take to the sky and just SOAR over absurdly vast amounts of level design, and it isn't really a skillful act, it doesn't take much effort to do. That might be fun for everyone else but it's definitely not a play style that sings to me. It's still better than Frontiers, but the top 3 boost games and the Adventure titles have it pretty well beat in my eyes.

Spark 3 from a gameplay perspective is a masterpiece and trumps what many previous Sonic titles tried to accomplish post Generations. It gives you so many options to progress through levels that’ll always leave you wanting to explore more, but the best part is it’s entirely up to you on how you want to execute them. Even the controls are buttery smooth
